The Alaska EHS Manager oversees the implementation, development and continuous improvement of comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Industrial Management System (IMS) programs. This role will be responsible for all aspects of conformance and compliance to all applicable internal and external safety requirements including but not limited to OSHA, FMCSA, CGA, FDA, DOT, DHS, EPA, and Codes of Federal Regulations (CFRs). The ultimate goal of the role is to ensure an accident- and injury-free work environment for Airgas associates, customers, and communities. This position is responsible for all aspects of Airgas safety and compliance for the State of Alaska and may be required to support other areas within the region as needed, remotely or in-person. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. Emphasizes and demonstrates the Airgas accident- and injury-free culture. Informs, encourages, and supports associates in meeting or exceeding safety requirements. Performs Safety Engagements and solicits feedback for program improvement. Conducts audits and prepares summary reports for management on opportunities for improvement with IMS/HSE/DOT/DHS activities. Regularly participates in and leads safety meetings. Provides Safety & Compliance-related training. Develops training content as appropriate. Maintains regulatory permits, certifications, and licenses that pertain to airgas plant and retail branch operations. Responsible for the development, training, implementation and ongoing support of the Driver Mentor program in alignment with regional and divisional objectives. Assists facility managers with the implementation and conformance to ongoing requirements for EHS and IMS including performing facility inspections, advising corrective actions, and aiding in the closure/completion of corrective actions. May assist with pre-employment interviewing, driver demonstrations, and evaluations for safety-sensitive positions. Provides Smith System Training for employees that operate a vehicle for the company. Trains and coaches new and existing drivers on use of fleet tools, equipment, processes, routing practices, safety practices, and other applicable aspects of fleet safety as needed. Performs annual driver demonstrations with all drivers who operate a vehicle for the company; prepares reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action; follow-up observations with constructive coaching and retraining when deficiencies are observed. Immediately responds in-person to emergency situations. Leads accident and injury investigations and incident reviews with management. Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in industrial or occupational safety preferred, or a similar discipline that would be considered relevant to this position is preferred. Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is preferred. Possession of valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is preferred. Minimum three to five years of experience in a safety-focused capacity OR previous safety leadership experience in a related industry preferred. Must have knowledge and understanding of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, FDA rules and regulations and requirements. Experience driving fleet vehicles or CMV with CDL is preferred. Experience operating a forklift is preferred. Benefits and Culture:
