The Medical College of Georgia Department of Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a Part-Time Vascular Surgeon to join our faculty at the Associate Professor level. The division is part of an academic general surgery program which includes a general surgery residency, clinical research program and a busy clinical practice at Wellstar at MCG. Wellstar at MCG is a tertiary care level 1 Trauma Center with a large multi-specialty practice. The practice has a fully integrated vascular lab and access to a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room and Cath Labs.
Responsibilities
Patient care, education and research in the field of Vascular Surgery.
Provide clinical and call coverage as outlined by the Section Chief. As a Clinician-Educator, train students and residents.
Maintain appropriate clinical records relating to patients treated.
Produce the appropriate number of RVU's for the specialty and work effort.
Participate in the educational programs of the Department, including teaching, service, training, preceptorship, mentoring, etc.
Required Qualifications MD/DO degree; board-certified in Vascular Surgery with a minimum of 1-5 years of experience. Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation:
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and subject to availability of funds. Benefits include 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, and generous retirement plans. Rank and salary are determined at hire and are based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks is through the annual Promotion and Tenure process (typically five-year increments).
