Cook
to join a prestigious and private members' club located in Washington, DC, servicing UHNW clientele. The club offers a refined dining experience to its distinguished membership. This role is integral to the culinary team, with a focus on delivering exceptional food offerings and contributing to an elevated and memorable dining experience. Position Overview
The
Cook
will be responsible for planning, prepping, and providing quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets, in accordance with standards, recipes, and plating guide specifications. They will maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment, in addition to preparing menu items at the assigned station, ensuring food quality that meets the set standards. Principal (Essential) Duties
Responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes from the assigned station. Communicates frequently and clearly with the Chef de Partie regarding orders and progress. Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and club requirements. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental/club policies and procedures. Meet with Junior Sous Chef/Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other pertinent information. Inspect the cleanliness and organization of the workstations; rectify any deficiencies and maintain throughout the shift. Organize all prep items needed from different areas to ensure readiness for service. Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to department standards. Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and club requirements. Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost. Complete opening and closing duties, including setting up workstation, inspecting tools and equipment, checking production schedule, establishing priorities, and requisitioning supplies. Qualifications & Experience
Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, or at least 2 years’ experience as a cook in a luxury establishment. Proven cooking experience, including experience in a similar position. Ability to communicate effectively in English related to the job. Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Ability to work varied shifts and a flexible schedule in a hot, humid, and noisy environment. Why Join Us
