Job title: Assistant Professor-Clinical, in the Department of Dentistry | Pre-Doctoral Restorative and Prosthetic at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. The position is a full-time clinical-track faculty role as General Practice Residency (GPR) Program Director, at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry. The GPR Program Director oversees daily operations, administration, and the academic components of the GPR program, ensuring residents receive high-quality, comprehensive training in general dentistry while maintaining accreditation standards and best practices in dental education. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, staff, and residents to deliver educational experiences and contribute to program development. Core responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction, curriculum development, mentoring, and participation in college, university, and community service. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities
Program Administration: develop and implement program policies, objectives, and curriculum in line with institutional goals and accreditation standards (e.g., CODA). Oversee recruitment, selection, and admissions of residents, ensuring a diverse and qualified cohort. Develop and manage the program budget and allocate resources for program success and sustainability. Ensure residents receive comprehensive clinical and didactic education in general dentistry. Coordinate resident scheduling, clinical rotations, and academic activities with faculty and other departments. Monitor residents’ academic performance, provide guidance, and implement remediation as needed. Conduct regular program evaluations and assessments to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with standards. Conduct annual staff reviews and evaluations per university guidelines. Resident Supervision and Mentorship: provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to residents; conduct regular meetings to assess progress; encourage involvement in research, professional development, and community outreach; foster a positive learning environment. Faculty and Staff Collaboration: work with faculty to ensure effective teaching, supervision, and curriculum delivery; recruit, train, and mentor GPR faculty; coordinate with other departments for rotations and interdisciplinary collaboration. Accreditation and Compliance: maintain compliance with accreditation requirements; prepare for site visits, reporting, and audits; stay updated on trends and best practices in general dentistry and residency education. Community and Professional Engagement: represent the GPR program at meetings, foster relationships with external institutions for opportunities and clinical placements, and promote the program to prospective students and applicants. Required:
DDS/DMD degree or equivalent and a certificate from a CODA-accredited advanced education GPR program; eligibility to obtain an Ohio dental license and hospital privileges at OSU Medical Center. See dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist for licensure information. Desired:
