Responsible for negotiating to secure the most competitive rate and service as part of the global contract logistics strategy. Provide rates to internal customers in a timely manner. Lead related carrier strategy and tracking projects as required. Function as a lead to other analysts and specialists in the department. Model and act in accordance with our guiding principles and core values. What Are You Going To Do?
Analyze Request for Quote material from internal customers to determine the structure of the strategy supporting Contract Logistics Product needs. Develop strategy and negotiate with ocean carriers to secure the most competitive rate for specific trade lanes. Present strategy with industry trend background information to upper management and obtain final rate approval. Prepare and file contracts internally and with FMC, ensuring all steps and backup material are in order. Utilize internal systems (rate tables, contract management systems, etc.) to retrieve current and benchmark requests for new ocean rates. Complete carrier spend tracking and global carrier strategy projects in a timely manner. Become Subject Matter Expert in the area of responsibility for relevant industry trends including carrier rate actions, general rate increases (GRIs) and fuel, and integrate market factors into rate decisions. Prepare and update carrier profiles and matrix reports to support global core or project carrier strategy and carrier management. Work closely as a member of the Corporate Team with Business Development personnel. Lead and mentor other analysts and specialists in the department. Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through study and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to generate error-free reports, charts and graphs and write reports and manuals. Knowledge of industry trends including carrier rate actions, GRIs, and fuels; ability to analyze and integrate market factors into rate decisions. Strong financial analytical skills with experience in quantitative analysis, simulation models, and mathematical modeling; proficient in statistical techniques. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software applications. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and to present information to management; ability to lead and coach others. Positive, competitive, customer-focused mindset with strong negotiation skills. Ability to work in a team or independently; strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills. Must be adaptable to changing client needs and company goals. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 4 to 5 years of related experience. In-depth knowledge of Contract Logistics products and services. Experience in strategy development of competitive rates for specific trade lanes. Familiar with internal systems to retrieve current and benchmark requests for new ocean rates. Experience in contract preparation and FMC filing requirements. Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent experience; completion of LDP Program. Minimum 4 years of industry experience in procurement or sourcing of transport, logistics or supply chain management. Travel
