Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Remote)
GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they use their technologies in managing GEICO's business. The ideal candidate has deep Finance Systems experience across multiple companies, with a background in ERP and Finance Data Warehouses and experience deploying best practices leveraging ERPs (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft). Position Responsibilities Leverage strong functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet Finance department and GEICO’s current and future needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle Participate in design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering and Finance Technology leaders to build out the Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Help establish a vision and technology roadmap for a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse and support FP&A planning/budgeting, financial reporting, and Revenue/Expense analytics Support data ingestion and transformation projects using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT) Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent) Develop a roadmap for Revenue and Expense analytics and ensure alignment with Finance and Technology goals Influence stakeholders and maintain governance and controls for SOX/audit reviews Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes across teams Qualifications 15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft) 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred) 3+ years working with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Experience with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) Strong SQL skills with ability to write, debug and optimize queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financials through major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS/Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to translate process and functional needs into system solutions Understanding of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting processes Experience implementing or supporting Revenue/Expense analytics via Power BI, Tableau, etc. Strong understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations in partnership with Finance Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Knowledge of project management techniques and best practices Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Experience with SDLC and ability to work independently and in teams Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent Annual Salary $115,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year Notes The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
