Job Summary Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Hydrogeologist Professional focused on western water supply management and water resilience initiatives. This position may consist of an 80/20 mix of field and office assignments, respectively. There is also a potential for full time field assignments. This position will also include national focused support groundwater and underground injection control (ASR, MAR, deep well disposal, carbon sequestration, and hydrogen storage) types of projects. This includes technical report writing and other hydrogeologic and water resources related activities. This individual will also be responsible for supporting and evaluation of data in the field and in the office, preparation of well permit applications, technical specifications and bid documents, preparation of work definition documents, schedules and budgets, and support of report preparation.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as an extension of the Water Supply and Hydrogeology Community of Practice and collaborate to support team building, mentoring, and skill development of emerging talent focused on the western US.
Lead and develop aquifer well field studies, development projects, rehabilitation, and operational strategies that optimize water supplies utilizing aquifer storage and recovery and managed aquifer recharge technology, support drought mitigation, and/or saltwater intrusion barriers.
Support integrated water supply assessments and alternative water supply planning and implementation efforts.
Support scenario planning and implementation projects for integrated surface and groundwater water management programs and natural systems restoration projects throughout the western US and on other strategic national and international opportunities.
Support technology assessments and implementation strategies that will address client groundwater/water resource needs and help differentiate B&V amongst its competitors.
Support climate change resilience planning and implementation efforts.
Support wastewater outfall closure programs, mine effluent management, and carbon sequestration efforts through deep well injection planning and implementation projects.
Preferred Qualifications
5-9 years of hydrogeological and water resource planning and implementation project experience related to western water resources challenges including groundwater management, water rights, brackish ground treatment schemes, desalination, aquifer storage and recovery, etc.
Bachelor of Science and/or Master of Science in Geology or Engineering Geology required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be able to work in the field in remote locations in California and areas of the United States
Hold a valid driver’s license.
Self-starter, professional appearance, positive attitude, takes initiative, detail oriented, excellent communications skills, and good writing skills.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Microstation or other graphical analysis tools a plus
Familiarity in Groundwater Vistas, gINT, Visual Modflow, Aqesolv, SEAWAT or other related calibration, environmental and hydrogeologic modeling software assessments a plus
HAZWOPER and MSHA safety certifications preferred (and/or interest in obtaining)
Minimum Qualifications Bachelors' degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science or Environmental Science required. Minimum of 2 years of experience.
Certifications Certified Hydrogeologist
Work Environment / Schedule Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
Salary Annual compensation range: $108,944.00 - $163,438.00
