The University of Miami is seeking a

Senior Research Associate 2

to work at the Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. The incumbent ensures that laboratory operations are efficient and compliant with applicable guidelines and regulations. The role engages in complex and specialized research activities in furtherance of the University’s research goals and objectives. Responsibilities

Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures. Participates in the publication of significant results. Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice. Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions. Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Provide administrative, logistical, and research support for ongoing and prospective studies and activities (including field work/street outreach); the area of research mainly covers substance abuse and its intersection with HIV, hepatitis C, and medical/mental health comorbidities. Conduct administrative work for the research team: Prepare/modify IRB submissions and modifications; Prepare/submit sponsor/agency annual progress reports; Prepare/modify research protocols and Manuals of Operating Procedures. Develop study instruments; conduct literature searches; assist in drafting, and lead submissions for manuscripts, presentations, and grants; assist with medical records abstraction. Perform as a research assistant in field-based settings (e.g., syringe access programs, opioid treatment programs, hospitals): participant recruitment, informed consent/enrollment processes, interviews/assessments. Support back-up interventionist/educator duties as needed; assist in managing and implementing daily research activities. Conduct outreach to service agencies/care facilities to maintain contact with participants; follow-up to ensure participant retention for visits. Establish and maintain working relationships with area clinic personnel and study participants. Maintain accurate and current data on study forms (e.g., electronic case report forms). Additional related duties as required or assigned. Qualifications

Education:

Master’s Degree in relevant field required. Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in submitting human subject research projects for review via Columbia University’s RASCAL system High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Comfort working with high-risk populations in Miami, FL (e.g., people who inject drugs, people who are unhoused) Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to work independently Knowledge of routine office practices and procedures and basic data processing Proficiency in citation management (e.g., EndNote) Proficiency in literature searches (e.g., PubMed) Ability to access and utilize electronic communication systems (e.g., Zoom) Ability to enter and verify information accurately and efficiently Excellent professional communication skills, both oral and written, in English Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes
