Overview Personal Financial Counselor, Sacramento, CA — Magellan Health. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering counseling and education to military service members and their families. Services may include one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers or staff, conducting briefings and presentations, or providing referral resources outside the counseling session. The counselor works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program remains within scope and meets installation needs.

Responsibilities

Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.

Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.

Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.

Coordinate, publicize, and offer a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and events outlined in DoDI 1322.34).

Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.

Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications) as appropriate; virtual PFC support requires authorization per OSD FINRED Program office.

Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.

Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues relevant to assigned installations.

Participate in regular in-services/training and quality improvement initiatives or other contract activities as assigned.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree with 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor019s degree, or a high school diploma with 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor019s degree.

3+ years of financial counseling experience.

U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.

Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.

One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: Minimum $53,125 – Maximum $84,995

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
