ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN II – County of Los Angeles Application window: We will be accepting online applications from Monday, October 6, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. (PT) until Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. (PT). All applications must be received before the deadline. Responsibilities

Performs technical accounting work, including general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, cost and fund accounting, budget support, auditing, financial reporting, capital asset management, and statement preparation. Supervises and participates in a unit of accounting technical and clerical personnel involved in the day-to-day operation of an accounting system, handling the full accounting cycle from setting up records and balancing ledgers to adjustments, closing entries, and reporting. Serves as a technical specialist in a central accounting agency with responsibilities such as control of major Countywide funds, budget controlling accounts, consolidation of reports, and preparation of specialized accounting reports. Reviews trial balances and reconciles to eCAPS and subsidiary ledgers; explains balancing items. Supervises a unit of technical specialists in examining estate accounting records and preparing interim and final accounting reports for probate proceedings. Routinely uses a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheets, eCAPS, and related accounting software. Qualifications

Requirements to Qualify: To qualify, you must have completed 12 semester or 18 quarter units of Accounting, including a course in Advanced Accounting, Cost Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Auditing, or Accounting Information Systems from an accredited college or university.

AND

EITHER: Option I: One year of technical accounting experience at the level of Accounting Technician I. Option II: Two years of accounting clerical experience. Notes: Lower-level accounting courses may be transferable from a two-year college to a four-year college/university. Applicants must submit a photocopy of official transcripts with the application. An official transcript bears the college seal and the wording "official and/or copy"; printouts from the institution’s website are not accepted. Experience definitions: Accounting Technician I level involves paraprofessional accounting work; accounting clerical experience involves standard accounting clerical work within established procedures. Veteran’s credit may apply (additional 10% of total points). A copy of DD214 should be included with the application or sent to the exam analyst. Driver license: A valid California Class C driver license or alternative transportation as needed. Physical Class II – Light. Application and Filing Information
