Performs technical accounting work, including general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, cost and fund accounting, budget support, auditing, financial reporting, capital asset management, and statement preparation. Supports department-wide accounting functions by handling the full accounting cycle, from setting up records and balancing ledgers to making adjustments, closing entries, and generating reports. Classifies and records accounting transactions, interprets policies and guidelines, and processes financial activities such as encumbrances, cost allocations, vendor payments, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, and revolving fund reimbursements. Ensures accurate financial reporting by apportioning expenditures, recognizing deferred revenues and receivables, settling accrued revenues and expenses, and calculating asset depreciation. Prepares financial documents, including journal vouchers, internal vouchers, and cash receipts, to adjust entries for revenue and expenditure allocations. Develops statistical, cost, and operational reports, financial statements, budget summaries, and final accounting for construction and other projects. We are looking for individuals who have: Completed 12 semester or 18 quarter units of accounting, including a course in Advanced Accounting, Cost Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Auditing, or Accounting Information Systems in an accredited college or university. One year of accounting clerical experience. Graduation from an accredited two-year college with an Associate's degree in Accounting or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of accounting clerical experience. Note: Lower-level accounting classes may be taken at a two-year community college if the units are transferable to a four-year college or university. Applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their official transcripts with the application. An official transcript must bear the college seal and state "official" or "copy" issued by the Registrar's Office; a printout from the institution's website is not considered official. Withhold Information: No withhold will be allowed. Required experience/education should be fully met by the last day of filing and clearly indicated on the application. What to do if you do not attach documents at filing: Submit official transcripts within seven (7) days of the end of the filing period. Veteran's credit: Eligible veterans may receive an additional 10% of the total points added to a passing score.
