Melvin Brewing is on the lookout for a dynamic Cellar Manager! This role involves overseeing and actively participating in all cellar operations and procedures each day. Responsibilities
Monitoring fermentation processes and adjusting parameters to ensure the production of top-quality beer.
Performing cleaning (CIP) and sanitizing (SIP) of fermentation tanks, bright beer tanks, and process piping.
Operating the centrifuge to achieve optimal clarity, yield, and low levels of dissolved oxygen (DO).
Supervising daily walkthroughs of the cellar and creating action lists.
Overseeing and managing the recording of data for actions, CIPs (Clean in Place), and fermentation data.
Assigning and verifying the correct usage of materials such as dry hops and finings.
Directing and supervising daily cellar operations, including prioritizing tasks.
Cleaning tank exteriors, parts, floors, and walls.
Ensuring a clean working environment.
Handling ‘capping’ and crashing of tanks.
Executing tasks such as dry hopping, yeast drops, and harvests.
Adding finings and other process aids to beer in tanks.
Carbonating beer for packaging purposes.
Taking all necessary lab samples.
Executing tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintaining accurate recordkeeping.
Adhering strictly to safety regulations at all times.
Maintaining communication with other cellar staff and management.
Contributing to the development of SOPs, including those for CIP, SIP, cellar actions, and transfers.
Conducting regular cellar meetings to keep all staff updated on processes.
Working to enhance cellar processes and efficiencies, such as resource conservation and streamlining.
Continuously promoting and improving workspace safety to prevent any unsafe work practices.
Training new staff and ensuring adherence to SOPs by all team members.

Skills and Experience
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
Basic computer skills required (email and G-suite)
Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
Strong understanding of how to operate safely and maintain a safe working environment
Minimum 3-years experience in a production brewery environment
Minimum 2-years experience in Cellaring
Strong work ethic and self-starting attitude
Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack
Ability to keep meticulous digital records via daily data entry
The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
Positive, get-it-done attitude and a passion for beer
Weekends and nights may be required
Physical Requirements
Good teamwork mentality
Ability to stand for prolonged periods
Ability to regularly lift/carry 44 pound boxes, 55 pound bags and periodically lift/move 165 pounds
Able to work in a production environment which may be loud, wet, slick, humid, cold and/or hot
Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently without loss of attention to quality
Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
Comfortably work in tight, crowded spaces which may be slippery or on and around equipment
Work Environment
Melvin Brewing is a production brewery
Practicing Sterile and Aseptic Techniques is mandatory
Noises such as separator discharge and compressed gas venting is common
Working around strong and dangerous utilities such as steam, high voltages and pressure is common
Handling hazardous chemicals
The work environment might be slippery
The work environment includes mechanized and motorized equipment such as forklift and sky lifts
The brewery is a shared space between many departments
