Overview
The
Accounting Manager
will own the company’s day-to-day accounting processes, ensure accurate financial reporting, and oversee compliance with multi-state sales and payroll tax, and import/export requirements. This role will coordinate with external bookkeepers, manage inventory reconciliations, and drive the development of financial forecasts and reporting packages for ownership. Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance. Coordinate with external bookkeepers to ensure timely and accurate monthly closes. Validate and prepare financial statements and management reports for ownership review. Build and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses. Oversee inventory accounting processes and lead periodic inventory reconciliations (physical counts and system true-ups). Manage import documentation and accounting processes for foreign-manufactured goods in coordination with the Operations team. Ensure compliance with multi-state sales tax filings and employment tax obligations. Oversee payroll processes and validating third-party payroll software. Lead annual insurance renewals and manage vendor relationships for financial services. Support and improve internal controls and accounting policies as the business scales. Assist ownership with ad-hoc financial projects and analysis. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus but not required). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including inventory-based businesses. Experience in manufacturing and/or consumer goods (CPG) environments preferred. Hands-on experience with sales tax filings, payroll oversight, and compliance reporting. Knowledge of import/export documentation and accounting for foreign-sourced goods (preferred). Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar ERP/accounting platforms) and Excel. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. Ability to communicate effectively with ownership and external partners. Seniorities
