Payroll Specialist

CEIS | Power is seeking an experienced payroll specialist with 2+ years of payroll processing experience. This position is on a contract basis, and our client, a large utility provider, is looking for a motivated individual to join their fast-paced team. The right person for this role will excel in handling confidential data, resolving payroll issues, and adapting to a dynamic, professional environment. Requirements Minimum of two years experience in payroll processing, ideally with a large employer (2,000+ employees). Strong knowledge of payroll-related policies, practices, and procedures. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify variances and provide resolutions. Proficiency with personal computers and applications, including databases, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Responsibilities Enter and validate employee data (e.g., direct deposits, W-4 forms) into SAP for accurate payroll processing. Create and deliver final paychecks for terminating employees. Enter garnishments, support orders, and tax levies into SAP based on reports and forms. Review rejected bank transactions, research reasons for errors, and provide resolutions. Detect and correct erroneous timekeeping entries based on established and standard practices. Prepare standard reports and other documents, providing ad hoc reporting as needed.
