Job Summary Provides support to undergraduate students to help ensure academic, personal, and career success. Utilizes best practices to improve retention and graduation rates; provides individualized guidance and services to students. Connects students to relevant campus and community resources; monitors and tracks progress of students; maintains communication with faculty and staff in support of the programs. Coordinates workshops and student enrichment activities.
Meets with individual students to assess needs. Refers and connects students with relevant university resources (housing, counseling services, disability resources, tutoring, financial aid, career services, etc.) to ensure that students remain on the path to degree completion.
Monitors and records progress of individual students; maintaining consistent and confidential records of student. Analyze student data to make decisions related to the student's progress.
Serves as an advocate for students with university processes and services, as needed. Works with faculty and academic and non-academic units to track students and to ensure they are attending classes, labs, tutoring, and engaging campus activities and programs.
Coordinates with Student Life & Development and other areas to ensure students are engaged and integrated into the university community. Prepares students for graduation, postgraduate plans, and career counseling. Coordinates workshops and student activities.
Participates in community outreach activities. Supports the recruitment process to attract and enroll students in college access programs.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or Higher Education.
Experience in counseling and advising students.
Experience with recruiting students from high school and first-time college applicants.
Experience preparing and delivering presentations.
