Adjunct - Doctorate of Physical Therapy (Las Vegas, NV) Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU) is a private, non-profit institution and the largest private university with its core campus in Honolulu. The College of Health and Society is seeking licensed physical therapists for adjunct faculty positions in its developing hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in Las Vegas, NV. The program is an accelerated two-year, online/on-campus blend. On-site labs are scheduled by course and may require travel to Las Vegas for labs lasting 3–6 days, with potential on-site commitments up to 2 weeks for multiple labs. Priority will be given to candidates who reside in Las Vegas. Travel and related expenses are covered by HPU. Start date: as early as January 2025 with the expected launch of the DPT program.

Compensation

$1,150 per credit hour – Doctorate $1,050 per credit hour – Master’s

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Licensed or eligible for licensure in Nevada or the state of residence. Desired Qualifications: Earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT) or terminal doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc) from an accredited university. Specialist Certification. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Other Qualifications: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance are not available for this position. Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. Upon hire, candidate must have reliable transportation to facilitate travel to HPU worksites and other locations as required. Access to an airport with regular flights to Honolulu may be applicable. Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends. Ability to work in an environment requiring strong time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions

The adjunct faculty member holds an appointment aligned with the program’s mission and demonstrates competence in teaching and strategies for student success. The primary responsibility is teaching (approximately 95%). The functions may include, depending on terms of appointment: Assist the primary and/or secondary course instructor in course-related activities as directed. Develop a syllabus that meets course requirements, establishes learning outcomes, and provides for appropriate class activities. Plan and deliver individual classes via distance education or on-campus labs that conform to the syllabus.
