As a Survivability Engineer, you will support the Specialty Engineering, Special Disciplines Organization in one or more of the following areas:

Applying electrical, electronics and physics theories to execute various tasks related to the field of Survivability engineering

Ensuring that NASA, commercial, and military space vehicle and missile designs, from the component level to the system level, will meet performance requirements during and after exposure to specified environments; these environments include natural space radiation and manmade radiation

Conducting technical planning, specification requirements derivation, modeling and analysis, design, test planning and execution, documentation, requirements verification/validation to support overall system needs and act as technical consultant for management and customers

Joining a Survivability Engineering group and partnering with, and being mentored by, senior experts while supporting critical programs, projects, or activities.

Working independently and interfacing with contacts outside of the immediate team, including customers

Successful applicants will typically possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience

Basic Qualifications

Skill Requirements:

Foundational knowledge of electromagnetic theory, radiation effects, or survivability principles for space systems.

Experience with basic modeling, simulation, or analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, SPICE, PSPICE, etc. or similar engineering software

Security Clearance / Work Authorization:

To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to ====.

Selected candidates will be required to possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance prior to starting employment.

Selected candidates will be required to obtain (and maintain), a minimum clearance level of Secret for long-term employment on this program.

Desired Skills

Understanding of Natural Space Radiation environments and Engineering

Understanding of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and electrooptical (EEEE) components

Rad Hard By Design (RHBD) electronics design and architecture experience

Experience using electrical engineering simulation tools and software tools for performing electrical engineering and mathematical analyses (e.g., MATLAB, SPICE, PSPICE, etc.)

Experience in circuit simulation and modeling for design, worst case analysis, nuclear survivability, electrical overstress, and failure analysis of electronic circuits

Experience with electronic, electrical, electromechanical and electro-optical (EEEE) components

Experience with radiation testing (e.g. TID, SEE, nDD, prompt dose rate, etc) and test facilities (e.g. TAMU, Brookhaven, West Coast Facility, etc)

Knowledge on electromagnetic environment and theories

Advanced degree in a related subject area

Survivability Engineering software tools (e.g., NOVICE, Srim/Trim, Novice/Geant4, Creme96, Creme-mc, Shieldose, Spenvis, Omere, Bumper, ORDEM, MEM, Ap8/Ap8, and Ap9/Ae9)

Work and collaborate with peers and senior specialists from within and outside the engineering group

Enthusiastic learner and willingness to be a mentor to others in the Survivability field

Active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered:

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $80,600 - $139,840. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
