Position Summary
The SVP, IT Development (Information Engineering) is responsible for technology modernization and capability engineering with an eye on the future. SVP, IT Development (Information Engineering) is expected to build strong relationships within IT and other department leaders to drive the modernization and transformation agenda. This position is instrumental in meeting a company’s strategic goals.
Essential Job Functions
Build and manage a team of data scientists, data/software engineers focusing on data technologies and data platforms for the bank Provide solution conceptual design to projects based on data/architecture standards, assertions/guidelines, and usage patterns ensuring security, scalability and supportability Oversee the data engineering function during evaluation of concepts including technical risks, architecture, dependencies and technical aspect of incubation plan to build and launch into market Ability to implement on-prem, cloud-based & hybrid implementation strategies for data engineering functions and lay the foundation to deliver functional prototypes in weeks not months Support IT leadership functions including annual planning, budgeting, status reporting, presentations and continuous improvement Reasonable proficiency with cloud services (e.g.: AWS, GCP) and ability to build, deploy and scale hybrid-infrastructure solutions in data domain Deep understanding and expertise in modern Big Data and Relational DB technologies Proficiency with Data Governance frameworks like DAMA Deep understanding of Data Architecture, Data Engineering principles, and Data Modeling patterns like Data Vault, Kimball and In Mon. Adequate understanding of the evolving AI/ML landscape to be able to work with senior stakeholders to influence and execute the strategy in this domain in alignment with the strategic data initiatives for the bank. Comfortable interacting with C Suite on Data related topics to make optimal decisions for the bank. Ability to effectively work with senior business stakeholders on data strategy, data insights and data monetization topics. Ability to lead large Data initiative execution with large teams, while effectively managing financials. Experience with migration from legacy to modern data platforms Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry. Actively promotes the mission of the company within the organization Performs other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering or related field 12-15 years progressive Information Technology experience; 5 or more years management and strategic experience in a Financial Services organization. 5 or more years of experience with public cloud providers 10+ years of experience in data governance/management and data engineering domain. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills Ability to collaborate effectively and follow up ensure achievement of deadlines, outcomes, and results. Demonstrate company core values of excellence, ownership, collaboration, and integrity.
Preferred
Data pipeline orchestration using Airflow or Astronomer Building and managing distributed data processing pipelines using PySpark & Flink Building and managing AI & ML workflows using Jupyter & Other open-source tooling (NumPy, SciPy). Building, extending and managing Data Cataloging & Lineage platforms viz. Atlas & Open Metadata. Building and running a poly-hybrid cloud data fabric extending over on-prem and hyper-scaler cloud environments using Openshift/Kubernetes, Minio/S3, & Observability through APM (Skywalking). Building and deploying data warehousing solution in Snowflake, along with supporting integrations to the data marketplace. Deep Expertise with Data analytics & visualization tools viz. Trino, Hue, Super Set, Tableau, Stream lit orchestration using Airflow or Astronomer. Building and managing data access frameworks using a policy engine (via Ranger) Deep expertise with Data Governance Frameworks like DAMA.
