Overview
Senior Controller / Director of Accounting - Construction Accounting for an established and growing multifamily and commercial real estate development company. The role will oversee all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations, providing leadership in administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts. The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction accounting, including project accounting, change orders, and lien waivers at the Controller – VP level. Base pay range: $145,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting. Research technical accounting issues for compliance. Support month-end and year-end close process. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Additional controller duties as necessary. Oversee the production of timely and accurate WIP and cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and annual budgets. Review and approve all T&M and change orders, ensuring they are properly executed and reflected in the financial statements. Manage the lien waiver process and ensure all waivers are properly tracked and recorded. Oversee the successful implementation and utilization of accounting software systems, specifically Timberline, Viewpoint, and Vista Viewpoint. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required; MBA or CPA preferred. 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation in the construction industry. Must have experience in partnering with an executive team. High level of proficiency in Timberline, Viewpoint, WIP, T&M, change orders, lien waivers, and Vista Viewpoint. Strong knowledge of construction accounting and project management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization. Ability to look at situations from several points of view. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Strong business and common sense.
