Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, analyzing colloquialisms and slang, extracting pertinent information, and communicating that information to law enforcement agents. The linguist will transcribe source documents and recordings from various media including audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project. Relate pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project. Contribute to a master-list of slang terms and codes used by groups/organizations for the duration of the project. Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project. Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by supervisor. Produce court-ready transcriptions of calls, chats, and documents in the required format. Use reference tools created during the project. Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day. Operate specialized software and equipment provided by the government (e.g., JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse). Maintain a daily productivity log. Perform related duties within the scope of practice. Minimum Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years’ experience, or Associate degree with five (5) years’ experience, or High School Diploma with seven (7) years’ experience in a professional setting. Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language. US Citizenship; ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance; favorable background investigation; eligible for access to classified information. Knowledge of source language colloquial terms, expressions, SMS language, social media, and Webchat. Excellent verbal and written skills in Spanish and English (grammar, punctuation, spelling). Contract requirement: score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English and Spanish. Strong computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel. Strong time management, prioritization, and teamwork abilities; able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks. Ability to take technical direction and feedback; typing speed of 45 wpm. Security Requirements/Background Investigation: Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance; favorable credit check for cleared positions; background investigation and drug screen; US Citizenship; residency requirements (3 of last 5 years in the US). Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Standing/Walking/Mobility: ability to attend meetings with managers and employees. Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0%–10% of the time. Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0%–10% of the time. Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: able to write, type, and use a telephone system 100% of the time. Sitting: prolonged periods monitoring live or taped calls; leave of desk may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating calls.
