Overview

The Business and Clinical Intelligence Developer (BID) role encompasses advanced responsibilities in software development and analytics. BIDs provide both ad-hoc and automated data products to the organization and to vendors outside the organization, utilizing expertise in clinical, revenue, and/or patient movement data models. The BID will conduct in-depth analysis, design intricate solutions, and implement those solutions as stored SQL procedures, reports, and data extracts from the Epic Cogito analytics environment as well as various clinical and financial systems within Riverside. Leveraging a diverse range of software technologies, BIDs play a pivotal role in enhancing our business and clinical intelligence capabilities, as well as realizing our data science strategy. The BID must maintain confidentiality when handling protected health information and employ strong interpersonal skills to identify and resolve challenges that arise during projects.

Location and Eligibility

Newport News, Virginia. This position is remote work eligible for candidates residing in the following states: FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MS, NC, OK, PA*, SC, SD, TN, VA. Some county exclusions may apply.

What You Will Do

Data Product Development: Create ad-hoc and automated data products to support the organization’s data strategy. Transform data into meaningful insights using clinical, revenue, and/or patient movement data models. Utilize BI tools such as PowerBI, Cogito SQL, Reporting Workbench, MoveIT, and internal reporting tools.

Stakeholder Communication: Gather and confirm reporting needs with stakeholders, determine required versus optional items, and communicate status, milestones, and obstacles through appropriate channels. Facilitate meetings and coordinate with project teams and stakeholders as needed.

Cogito Analytics: Design comprehensive reporting solutions using Cogito tools and SQL. Translate requirements into efficient, scalable database solutions, reporting systems, and analytical tools. Explore opportunities within Epic UserWeb, Galaxy, or other relevant packages.

iCare Maintenance: Review Cogito-related upgrade documentation, implement updates, ensure continued reporting functionality, and document troubleshooting processes as needed.

Special Projects: Deliver data engineering, data development, or data science assignments to realize the analytics strategy.

Certification and Training: Maintain Epic Certification New Version Training (NVT) in assigned areas and pursue ongoing training and certifications to enhance skills and healthcare industry knowledge.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (Required)

Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (Required)

Experience

3-4 years of relevant experience in reporting system administration, report creation/maintenance, SQL development, data extraction, relational database concepts, and EPIC Reporting applications for candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (Required)

1 year of relevant experience in the above areas for candidates with a Master’s Degree (Required)

Skills and Abilities

Epic Cogito certification required within 120 days.

Epic certification(s) in assigned data models required within 1 year.
