Project Architect - Water Resource Recovery Market
at Jacobs. This role focuses on Water Resource Recovery (water/wastewater) facilities design with potential work across Transportation, Science and Technology, Health Care, Corporate Commercial, Higher Education, or Mission Critical facilities. Local candidates preferred in one of Jacobs’ Ohio, Michigan, or Indiana offices.
You will work with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and discipline leads, and you are accountable for project design quality, performance, and team communication. You will develop, issue, and coordinate the content of deliverables, the technical content of documents, and coordination with consultants, and supervise staff producing documents on your projects. The position supports hybrid work arrangements (up to 3 days remote per week with at least 2 days in a Jacobs office).
Base pay range $110,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
The base salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $140,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Design Manager is incorporated into the detailed documentation
Monitors the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design is properly conveyed and executed
Writes and/or collaborates with the project specification writer to develop architectural specifications and coordinates drawings and specifications
Checks completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy
Leads the architectural discipline strategy for producing documents and identifies sheets planned for each stage; defines how data will be organized into BIM and final construction drawings
Coordinates with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure information is incorporated into project requirements and provides support as necessary
Ensures construction detail documentation conforms to QA/QC and Jacobs' standards
Prepares technical drawings and details
Meets with municipal building departments and other authorities to coordinate approvals
Writes technical reports and memos for client-based project work
Attends on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; coordinates reviews and responses for contractor submittals, RFIs, and material samples
Reviews drawings from vendors, clients, and other discipline designers affecting the project design
Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
Fosters client service and business development through project delivery responsibilities
Supports the growth of Jacobs' brand across disciplines, offices, and performance units
Develops and maintains internal and external client relationships to secure future project opportunities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent)
Licensed Architect or on track for licensure in the United States with reciprocity in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Architectural Design, with preference for public works infrastructure
Self-motivated with ability to work collaboratively and independently in a hybrid environment; able to adapt to changing deadlines
Ability to lead and collaborate with design teams across local and remote members and disciplines
Strong knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, material selection, and manufacturer-supplier considerations
Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and green building/green infrastructure certifications
Thorough knowledge of BIM and familiarity with project delivery methodologies (design-bid-build, design-for-design-build, design-build)
Proficiency with building codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, OSHA), technical writing, and specifications
Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft 365
Ability to travel to local project sites; some regional travel
Preferred qualifications
Prior experience with Water Resource Recovery facilities or similar industrial uses
Proficiency with Enscape, Photoshop, and other graphics/rendering software
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
Familiarity with sustainable design software and analysis tools
Familiarity with Dynamo, Sustainable Design Analysis tools, and data analytics tools
LEED AP and/or ENV SP credentials
Understanding of coatings, corrosion mitigation strategies, and materials compatibility
Experience designing around chemical storage and feed buildings
