GRID SYSTEMS PROJECT MANAGER – SOLUTION ARCHITECT Location: Charlotte, NC

Job type: 1 Year Contract

Travel: 25% - 45%

Our global EPC Firm client is hiring a Grid Systems Project Manager - Solution Architect for a contract opportunity in their Charlotte, NC office.

This position will join the Enterprise System & Integration team, focusing on providing Enterprise Solution Services with high value to clients through a variety of leading technologies. The grid operations architect shall possess strong electric utility business and technology acumen and provide professional consulting services focused on solutions such as SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS. Candidates must have strong project execution capabilities, leadership and collaboration skills, and excellent communication, with a focus on continuous improvement and enterprise innovation.

The grid operations architect will provide strategic guidance, research, planning, and best practices to executive leaders to support investment decisions aligned with the long-term vision of the organization.

This role focuses on grid automation support services, emphasizing SCADA systems, transmission, distribution, and DERMS, and the execution of grid modernization programs for electric utility clients. The position will lead efforts to identify and deliver grid operations services that support modernization assessments, technology roadmaps, software upgrades, and implementations with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, and industry best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Architect, design, develop, and implement SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS solutions to support complex business requirements.

Utilize knowledge of SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS to support commissioning, testing, and deployment.

Provide field support, troubleshooting, and project coordination to enhance and maintain SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS, including commissioning new SCADA systems and performing testing and data verification for applications such as FLISR, VVO, and DER Dispatch.

Lead or assist with program estimating, planning, budgeting, and delivery execution.

Support Analysis, Design, Build, Test, triaging defects, configuration, and deployment activities.

Support Enterprise Program Management activities using methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.

Ensure project success within budget, scope, quality, and business objectives; supervise status and ensure milestones and delivery dates are met.

Maintain overall project quality of deliverables.

Act as an application architect and solution architect within the architecture teams.

Assist with business process design to drive complete application requirements (functional, quality, integration, security).

Work with application designers to create a high-level end-to-end integration design and map data between applications.

Inventory cross-application interactions or interfaces (business events or messages).

Validate requirements meet business process needs and are within scope and internally consistent.

Validate integration solution designs utilize appropriate architecture components.

Lead or assist with high-level project communications and status reporting to executives.

Provide a central point of contact for project interdependencies, internal and external.

Support timely development and implementation of all stages of the system.

Apply project execution experience to improve processes and QA/QC protocols.

Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; 8 years of relevant experience required.

Minimum 8 years of enterprise or operations architecture strategies, integration solutions, and services across various platforms.

Minimum 5 years of GE e-terra ADMS experience, and 3 years of GE e-terra OMS.

Strong enterprise architecture and integration skills (data architecture, cloud, middleware, communications).

Experience in large-scale enterprise transformation projects using standard enterprise technologies.

Experience with electric utility clients implementing OMS, DMS, ADMS, AMI, Distribution Automation, and DER is preferred.

Strong ability to influence or lead project execution; excellent analytical and communication skills.

Experience with leading-edge applications, OT, and standard industry tools; experience with Waterfall and Agile.

Experience delivering executive-level technology assessments and roadmaps for enterprise and OT in utilities.
