Summary The Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets will be responsible for the fixed asset accounting functions of the WRBP Roofing & Stone divisions. This includes maintaining the fixed assets subledger, tracking acquisitions, capitalization, depreciation, disposal, transfers, and impairments, and supporting financial reporting audits. The role also involves creating and maintaining capital projects in SAP, ensuring proper tracking and accounting for project-related expenditures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in fixed assets accounting. This position involves interaction with all levels of management and independent auditors.

Accounting Duties and Responsibilities

Create and manage capital investment projects in SAP.

Ensure projects are properly structured, assigned to the correct cost center/internal order, and aligned with internal policies.

Monitor budgets and spending against open projects.

Track and monitor AUC projects to ensure timely and accurate capitalization.

Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and finance to gather documentation and close out projects.

Review assets under construction (AUC) balances monthly for compliance.

Apply accounting capitalization rules per company policy and U.S GAAP.

Manage the fixed assets subledger, recording all additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.

Review useful lives and depreciation methods.

Ensure timely and accurate capitalization and depreciation calculations.

Perform monthly reconciliations for fixed asset accounts and others as assigned.

Prepare fixed asset schedules, rollforwards, and supporting documents for reporting and audits.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies related to fixed assets.

Support internal and external audits with schedules and responses.

Identify and implement process improvements in fixed asset accounting.

Prepare fixed asset & lease accounting reports and journal entries.

Support financial reporting, SEC filings, and budgeting processes as needed.

Enforce SOX compliance and stay updated on technical accounting pronouncements.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in project teams.

Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Bachelor’s in Accounting with 4-5 years of progressive experience in public and private sectors, preferably manufacturing.

CPA or equivalent preferred.

Experience with financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and general accounting.

Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Strong understanding of GAAP and Fixed Asset accounting principles.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Physical Demands Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment Moderate noise level typical of an office. Some work in operating units requiring PPE. Possible exposure to outside elements and travel, including air and auto travel.
