Systems Test Engineer
to join our growing engineering team in Longmont, CO and help validate and refine the design of our EV charging and energy storage systems. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on R&D environment, loves solving complex hardware/software integration challenges, and wants to see their work directly impact the performance and reliability of clean energy infrastructure. What You’ll Do
Develop and execute design validation test plans for high-voltage power systems, battery modules, and embedded controls. Work closely with electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams to evaluate system-level performance, safety, and interoperability. Design and implement automated test setups (Python, LabVIEW, or similar) to accelerate verification cycles. Perform root-cause analysis and system debug during prototype and pilot builds. Contribute to requirements definition and design reviews, ensuring testability and reliability are built in from the start. Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, and internal safety standards. What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution 3–7 years of experience in system validation or hardware testing, ideally in EVSE, battery energy storage, or power conversion Strong understanding of DC power electronics, BMS systems, and high-voltage safety Experience with test automation, data acquisition, and debug tools (LabVIEW, Python, oscilloscopes, CAN analyzers, etc.) Excellent analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills Ability to work with limited supervision Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic startup environment Bonus Skills
Test experience preferably in the automotive industry, industrial setting, energy industry Knowledge of EV charging standards a plus Experience with High Voltage and high current a plus Familiarity with high speed bus hardware and protocols (CANbus, Modbus, Ethernet) Familiarity with UL 2202, UL 1973, UL 9540, and IEC 61851-23/24 standards Why Join OptiGrid
