The YMCA of Greater Nashua is seeking a
Staff Accountant
to join our mission-driven team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this part-time role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting to support our work in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Staff Accountant will manage daily accounting transactions, prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support monthly close activities. Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, adjustments) Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies Review accounts for anomalies or variances; prepare adjusting entries as needed Collaborate with department leads to support budgeting, coding, and financial inquiries Assist with annual audit preparation (schedules, documentation, analyses) Maintain complete and organized financial documentation aligned with internal controls Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline accounting operations Support cross-departmental financial needs and special projects Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance/CFO This role may grow to match the strengths and aspirations of the right candidate. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred) 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities High level of professionalism, integrity, and customer service mindset YMCA Competencies
