The University of Connecticut, School of Nursing is seeking applications to fill full-time, 9-month, tenure/tenure-track Associate/Full Professor positions. Candidates with research expertise in health equity across the lifespan; social determinants of health; parent-child health; support for people with acute and chronic conditions, including symptoms and self-management; and bio-behavioral studies of sleep and pain are encouraged to apply. The School offers opportunities to engage with centers including the Center for Advancement of Pain Management; the Nursing and Engineering Innovation Center; and the International Center for Lifestory Innovations and Practice. Responsibilities and Expectations
The successful candidate will contribute to research and scholarship through extramural funding, high-quality publications, impact as measured through citations, performances and exhibits, and national recognition such as honorific awards. They will teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, engage in mentoring students in research and outreach, and participate in professional service activities. The candidate will promote diversity and inclusion in teaching and research and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques for diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. The school supports interdisciplinary collaboration and expects assignments adjusted for a focus on research.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in nursing or doctorate in a related field with a master’s degree in Nursing. Demonstrated active program of scholarship and research with publications and funding, and potential for extramural funding. Experience teaching in higher education with positive student evaluations. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven writing and research ability. Demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity and excellence in learning experiences through scholarship and teaching or public engagement. For higher rank, an excellent record of research, teaching, and involvement in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education. Eligibility for RN licensure in Connecticut (valid by date of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
Record of research publications and grants in health equity, social determinants of health, parent-child health, and bio-behavioral studies of sleep and pain. PhD in Nursing. Post-doctoral fellowship. For advanced practice nurses, eligibility for APRN licensure in Connecticut (preferred by date of hire). Demonstrated teaching excellence in areas of expertise. Strong record of federally funded research, high-impact publications, teaching, and public engagement, with leadership in professional organizations or editorial activities.
Appointment Terms
This is a 9-month tenure/tenure-track faculty appointment, initially subject to annual reappointment reviews. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Primary appointment at the Storrs campus with possible assignment to regional campuses. Faculty may be asked to teach at regional campuses as part of ordinary workload. Salary and benefits are competitive, including tuition waivers.
