About the Job The University of Minnesota Institute for Health Informatics (IHI) at the Twin Cities campus invites applications for open rank faculty positions (tenure/tenure track) specializing in Biomedical Artificial Intelligence, including Natural Language Processing, unstructured data modeling, and knowledge representation. The IHI is a comprehensive institute with 21 core faculty, 65 affiliate faculty, and multiple graduate programs. It leads projects in Clinical Informatics, Translational Bioinformatics, Healthcare AI, Precision Medicine, and more, with strong NIH funding and collaborations across health sciences. We are looking to expand our faculty in the following areas: Biomedical NLP using Deep Learning, causal inference, and advanced methods Biomedical Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, including guidelines, pathways, and literature induction Analysis of relational databases, literature, social media, and other complex data sources This open-rank search targets: Junior faculty (Assistant Professors) with doctoral training in AI, CS, Computational Linguistics, or related fields, with early career accomplishments Mid-career or senior faculty (Associate or Full Professors) with extensive achievements and impactful contributions in the field Successful candidates will be expected to: Develop and lead impactful research in the focus areas Mentor students and junior faculty Participate in service, governance, and possibly cross-appointments Pay and Benefits Salary range: $120,000 - $135,000, depending on qualifications.
