Overview

Food Safety Specialist role at Richelieu Foods. The Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for maintaining, organizing, and administering the programs, policies and certifications that support the Food Safety and HACCP plans. This role will facilitate organizational readiness to meet regulatory requirements, customer expectations and adherence to all operational and mechanical requirements. The position is located in the Wheeling, IL manufacturing plant. The role includes training and leadership to promote a strong Food Safety Culture. Responsibilities

Demonstrate and have a firm understanding of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and FDA/USDA regulations. Assist with development, maintenance, and organization of FSQA documentation, SOPs, procedures and policies as needed. Serve as Subject Matter Expert for FSQA programs; support audit readiness initiatives and attend cross-functional meetings as necessary. Support and maintain all compliance and certification requirements (RSPO, Organic, Vegan, GFCO, etc.). Facilitate execution of the Active release program, product reconciliation, label and ingredient reviews, and support programs to ensure customer compliance. Co-lead and support annual audits, communications, and policy updates. Co-lead and track CAPAs associated with process deviations. Assist with maintenance of Customer portals, Internal FSQA databases, TraceGains and Repositrak; interact with Neogen Analytics, OSS, Hold trends, and Customer Complaint Trends as needed. Monitor, document, and drive improvements in food safety opportunities; lead projects and validation studies to drive continuous improvement in food safety. Assist in developing, maintaining, and championing our Food Safety and Quality Culture. Perform FSMA/HACCP/SSOP training as needed and update HACCP/SSOP programs annually. Partner with others; share knowledge and information with team and cross-functional areas. Stay current on FSMA, USDA and FDA regulations and implement changes in a timely manner to ensure compliance. Demonstrate growth in technical, functional, leadership, and professional development. Qualifications

PCQI Certification HACCP Certification SQF Knowledge required Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality role within a food manufacturing facility Experience with GMPs and HACCP USDA experience preferred Adaptable to schedule Ability to make decisions and strong verbal and written communication skills Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology or related field Competencies

Ability to read, write and interpret documents and policies; draft reports and correspondence; communicate effectively Ability to calculate figures and percentages Ability to support or lead third-party audits and respond to customer inquiries Ability to train others Compensation and Benefits

The following information is provided in accordance with state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, location and other factors. Typical compensation range: $62,000 to $77,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, 401(k) with company match, disability and life insurance.
