Position Overview We are hiring one Revenue Auditor Trainee within the Computer Support Unit of Audit in Springfield. This position provides on-the-job training for audit assignments, handles trouble calls/inquiries, and conducts testing of service requests from internal Audit staff related to revenue tax auditing. This role suits detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated candidates. Apply now before time runs out. Essential Functions

Under immediate supervision, for up to twelve (12) months, receives intensive classroom instruction and on-the-job training involving the IDOR Audit program and operations. Participates as part of a team in audit assignments and supports supervisor in more difficult or complex audits. Receives on-the-job training in auditing assignments of increasing difficulty, in-house or in a field office. Attends formal classroom training to receive specialized orientation and instruction in manual and computerized revenue tax auditing. Receives training in PC software (Access, Excel, Word, GenTax, etc.). Provides routine tax information and guidance to taxpayers concerning tax return and application forms. Performs other duties as required within the scope of duties listed above. Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Paths Path A: Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least fifteen semester hours of progressive coursework in accounting, including two introductory accounting courses, two intermediate accounting courses, and one course in taxation or auditing. Progressive coursework is defined as sequencing of increasingly difficult coursework that builds on prior knowledge. Path B: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Certified Public Accountant certification. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete specific proficiency tests or training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class. Ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check. Ability to travel with overnight stays as appropriate; valid driver’s license required. Ability to use and secure a state-issued mobile device (cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc.). Work is considered heavy; lifting up to 100 pounds at a time and frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
