Baylor University Medical Center’s Roberts 17 Unit – an Intermediate Care unit – is expanding. Join this opportunity to shape patient care standards and clinical culture in a new unit that serves populations with increased acuity. You will collaborate with intensivists, Advanced Practice Providers, and a multidisciplinary team to promote academic learning and career growth. Estimated timeline: Start dates in June to late Summer; Open this unit in Fall 2025.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, monitoring patient responses, and coordinating care. Adhere to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions

Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, and create, implement, and evaluate care plans; adjust plans to achieve desired outcomes. Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families; manage discomfort and maintain professionalism. Develop care plans that reflect patient values and resolve issues effectively. Educate patients, families, nurses, and the community; assess and document learning needs regularly. Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create a care plan; delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use diverse problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff; prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in care planning and delivery. Contribute to team goals, support peers’ development, and demonstrate commitment to community service.

Key Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program RN license required BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of start Minimum 1 year recent IMCU/PCU (level I or II trauma) hospital RN experience

Strong nursing and patient care standards knowledge; familiarity with applicable laws, rules, and guidelines Proficiency in medical terminology; understanding of common medications, side effects, and disease management Commitment to patient privacy and professional ethics Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders Analytical problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EMR documentation, scheduling, payroll systems, email)
