The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) enforces criminal provisions of the state's tax laws and related codes. CID officers make arrests and conduct long‑term, complex investigations referred to prosecutors. Hours
Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week with occasional evening, weekend hours, and holidays. Hours may change based on business need. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business, criminal justice, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience: Experience in law enforcement work. Licenses and Certifications: Must be certified as a Texas peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver’s license, current proof of automobile insurance and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment. Summary Of Physical Requirements

You will perform law enforcement investigative work, conducting criminal investigations under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and judgment. Duties include
Investigate criminal offenses, obtain and execute warrants, assist other agencies, conduct undercover investigations, make arrests, and provide security. Locating, contacting, interviewing, and taking statements from witnesses, suspects, and individuals with knowledge of tax fraud. Evaluate, summarize, and prepare investigative reports for prosecution. Maintain case files and evidence; manage investigative caseloads. Conduct administrative and criminal investigations and inspections, enforce agency regulations, collect and evaluate evidence, and testify. Prepare reports for prosecution and maintain records of cases, evidence, and property. Coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies; work with county/district attorneys and/or federal prosecutors to prepare for prosecution; testify in court. Participate in joint initiatives with other governmental law enforcement agencies; serve as a field training officer as applicable; provide guidance to others as applicable; perform related work as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of police methods, criminal laws, and regulations; investigative practices; state and federal statutes and rules (e.g., Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure). Skills in firearms/radio equipment use, defensive tactics, interviewing, computer use, and effective communication; problem solving. Abilities to conduct investigations, secure and process crime scenes, collect and preserve physical evidence, prepare reports and cases for prosecution, and communicate effectively; maintain confidentiality and follow information security policies; work with others to achieve goals; adapt to changing demands; meet internal and external customer needs.
