Property Management Controller Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Senior
Property Accountant
to join the in-house accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting property-level financial operations, contributing to the monthly close process, and ensuring accurate reporting for a large and growing portfolio of multifamily assets. Key Responsibilities: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany balances Maintain and monitor financial records across a portfolio of multifamily properties Record and analyze property-level income and expenses, including rent rolls, operating expenses, and capital expenditures Assist with onboarding of new properties transitioning to in-house management Collaborate with property management, asset management, and other departments to ensure financial accuracy Help manage compliance with lender and investor reporting requirements Participate in the year-end audit and tax preparation processes Assist with cash management, including reviewing funding needs and distributions Work in Yardi to post journal entries, manage payables/receivables, and generate reports Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with ad hoc projects as needed Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3–7 years of property accounting experience, preferably in residential multifamily real estate Strong understanding of GAAP and property-level accounting practices Proficiency in Yardi is strongly preferred Experience working with complex entity structures (300+ entities a plus) Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities Strong Excel skills and analytical capabilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Seniority level
