ITS has partnered with a longstanding and growing commercial construction company in Henrietta, NY to recruit a Senior Accountant. Position Summary
The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller and will be an integral part of managing and improving their core financial processes across multiple divisions. The successful candidate be hands-on with project accounting & transactions, automation initiatives, and compliance responsibilities, while also serving as a workflow expert within the ERP system. Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting & Reporting Set up and maintain project accounts across all divisions (Service, Roof, Paint). Process billing and revenue recognition for all active projects. Prepare weekly labor reports, project reports, and estimate updates. Generate weekly project summaries by division and provide variance analysis. Lead the automation of weekly project reporting and WIP/YTD WIP reports. Act as the internal expert for project accounting workflows and best practices. Accounts Receivable & Revenue Apply and reconcile AR deposits. Perform timely follow-ups on outstanding receivables. Ensure accurate revenue postings and billing entries. General Ledger & Close Activities Record and review journal entries related to revenue, labor, and other cost components. Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly. Perform bank reconciliations. Support monthly and quarterly close, including report generation and analytical research. Assist with audit preparations and internal controls documentation. Accounts Payable & Payment Support Provide secondary approval and backup to Controller for outgoing payments. Assist in automating AP reports including PO aging and invoice aging reports. Tax Compliance Review sales tax transactions (Avalara to Acumatica) for accuracy. File monthly/quarterly/annual sales tax returns across relevant jurisdictions. Other Other duties as assigned by Controller. Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA or progress toward CPA designation preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. Familiarity with construction-related billing practices and WIP schedules. Strong understanding of project-based accounting and job costing. Experience with ERP systems such as Acumatica (preferred) and sales tax software like Avalara. Experience implementing automated workflows in accounting systems. Advanced Excel skills; experience with automation tools or report writers a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Compensation $70,000-$85,000 per year
