Position: Kindergarten – 8th Grade Latin Teacher
Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School, Bremerton, WA, is seeking a part-time Latin teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. This position involves instructing students from Kindergarten through 8th grade, requiring extensive knowledge of Latin and previous teaching experience aligned with a Catholic classical liberal education philosophy.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide thorough instruction while assessing students regularly and tracking progress.
Present and follow the curriculum, supplementing with resources as needed.
Maintain classroom management and foster joy for the language.
Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
Participate in professional development in the classical model and other programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Be a practicing Catholic willing to pledge fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
Have experience teaching primary and middle school levels.
Have at least intermediate Latin proficiency (capable of reading the Vulgate, Apollonius’s History, and similar texts).
Demonstrate ease in using ecclesiastical or Calabrese classical pronunciation.
Desire to improve Latin proficiency through training provided.
Clear a background check and complete Safe Environment training.
Salary Part-time, 25 hours/week, $25-$35/hour. Salary is determined based on experience, skills, education, and internal salary ranges. This position is not benefits-eligible.
