Van Nuys High School is on a 2x8 block schedule and serves approximately 1780 students, in grades 9 – 12, through the comprehensive high school and its three magnet programs, International program and Freshman Academy. The student population is comprised of 84% eligible for free or reduced lunch, 70% Latino, 11.42% White, 10% Special Education, and 24% English Learners. Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services Ideal Candidate
Will be a visionary and innovative leader who supports the growth of a thriving comprehensive high school. Has knowledge of Common Core State Standards, LAUSD School Leadership Framework, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework & District instructional initiatives. Experience in leading, supervising and evaluating instructional programs and facilitating professional development. Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to interpret data to inform decisions. Familiar with district platforms and building and maintaining the master schedule at the secondary level. Knowledge of systems to enhance progress monitoring of A-G progress (C or better), overseeing counseling services, and program knowledge of A-G requirements to meet the needs of specialized student populations. Experience implementing School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support (SW-PBIS) and SSPTs processes. Strong communication with stakeholders, communities, agencies and school partnerships; promoting a culture of college and career readiness. Experience leading schools for the performing arts, Crisis Teams, Counseling Teams and Supervision Teams. Understanding of the cultural composition of the community and ability to leverage community resources. Salary
SALARY:
41G - B Basis ($119,477 – $149,036) – 221 paid days Note: Employees changing basis during the school year may affect service credit and annual settlement. Displacement or budget limitations may apply. Required Experience (Public School Setting)
Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program No fewer than two years of successful experience in a middle/senior high school counseling office Note:
Employees with a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for promotion for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice. Minimum Requirements
A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching A valid California Administrative Services Credential Multicultural coursework* A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential Master’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university District Master Plan requirements* Candidates have one year to complete this requirement Other qualifications
For all school-based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. Eligible pools require completion of the LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.
