Zurich is seeking a Hull & Marine Liability Underwriter (Mid Level II or Sr. Level III) for our Specialities Ocean Marine Department to work out of our office in New York or Houston. We may, at the sole discretion of the Hiring Manager, be open to basing the role out of other ZNA office locations. This position will be hybrid, with a required in-office/market presence three days per week to meet with agents and brokers. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop and utilize your marketing and analytical skills along with your knowledge of marine operations to analyze and underwrite new and renewal marine hull and liability insurance business. You will contribute as a member of Zurich\'s Underwriting Team, building relationships with select brokers in the marine insurance segment. Responsibilities

Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition; work with customers and distributors to determine insurance-related needs and provide solutions. Work closely with marine specialists and global brokers. Support the organization\'s sales culture by being a help point for agents, brokers and customers. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities including cross-sell within the Zurich North America network (including Construction and Energy Casualty). Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet appetite and sound business opportunities. Make broker/customer on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Basic Qualifications

Hull & Marine Liability Underwriter (Mid-Level II)

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area, OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines Knowledge of time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience with Microsoft Office Hull & Marine Liability Underwriter (Sr. Level III)

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area, OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree CPCU / AMIM / or ARM a plus Established broker relationships Ability to effectively assess risk Strong negotiation skills Strong retail broker relationships Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating Possess knowledge of time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility PC and related software skills At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including the office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Mid-Senior is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. For the Senior is $98,500.00 - $165,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code 1033.
