Job Description Summary:

The Architectural & Engineering CAD Faculty supports learning on campus and via distance learning modalities. This faculty role will transfer knowledge from architectural, engineering, and/or construction drafting and detailing environments. The faculty teaches introductory and advanced architectural graphics, modeling, drafting, detailing, and technology courses. Responsible for preparing and delivering coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and creating an environment that promotes belonging for all. The position starts in January 2026.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare and teach BIM & CAD courses to a multicultural student population based on approved course learning outcomes, using instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and the discipline standards.

Participate in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes, and other departmental activities.

Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.

Serve as a mentor to students in the BIM & CAD program.

Provide teaching and mentoring to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on protected categories.

Remain current in the field through professional development activities.

Support division and department goals through active engagement in decision-making and unit planning.

Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.

Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or executive leadership.

Additional Duties Coordinates Architectural & Engineering CAD faculty in the Architectural CAD Specialization area, serving as a liaison between the program and area high school technology preparatory programs.

Technology

Proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other classroom technologies.

Proficiency using an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) to develop course content and perform administrative duties.

Professional level proficiency utilizing Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and related industry technology.

Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.

Participate in graduation and official college functions.

Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention and success.

Comply with college policies and professional standards for teaching in a community college.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering or Interior Design; or

Associate degree in Engineering Design Graphics or Drafting/A&E CAD with 3 years non-teaching work experience

In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements. SACSCOC requirements may differ depending on the courses taught within the discipline.

Required Work Experience

A minimum of three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience within architectural, engineering and/or construction drafting and detailing environments.
