The Neuroimmunology team is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Associate Scientist with a strong background in CNS cell biology to support research into novel therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across a multidisciplinary environment, including teams in genetics, chemical biology, immunology, and pharmacology. Culture and maintain stable cell lines, primary cells, and iPS-derived microglia and neurons. Design and execute disease-relevant, cell-based functional assays. Perform immunofluorescence staining and high-content imaging to analyze cellular phenotypes. Apply molecular and biochemical techniques including protein/RNA extraction, Western blotting, ELISA, and qPCR. Analyze data independently, including statistical evaluation, and present findings clearly to cross-functional teams. Collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple scientific disciplines. Maintain detailed and organized records of experimental work. Qualifications
Education & Experience: BS/BA in Biology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in industry or academic research settings. Required Skills: Strong foundation in sterile technique and mammalian cell culture. Experience with immortalized cell lines and CNS cell models, including primary rodent neurons/glia and iPS-derived microglia or neurons. Familiarity with transfection methods (lipid-based, electroporation). Proficient in immunofluorescence staining and microscopy (e.g., high-content, confocal). Practical experience with data analysis and basic statistical methods. Working knowledge of mouse neuroanatomy. Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills. Preferred Skills: Experience with high-content imaging systems and live-cell imaging. Quantitative image analysis experience (e.g., ImageJ, CellProfiler). Hands-on experience with functional assays such as phagocytosis or cell motility. Familiarity with molecular biology tools for gene and protein expression analysis.
