Overview
The Accounting Manager will lead the accounting operations for a manufacturing organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and effective management of WIP inventory. This role requires hands-on experience with cost accounting, inventory reconciliation, and leadership of accounting staff. Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations including AP/AR, general ledger, and payroll Manage WIP accounting: track production costs, reconcile inventory, and analyze variances Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation Supervise and mentor accounting staff (typically 2–6 direct reports) Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings Implement and improve accounting policies and procedures Collaborate with FP&A and operations teams to support budgeting and forecasting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales and use tax Support ERP system upgrades and process automation initiatives Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in manufacturing Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, Sage, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS) Experience managing WIP and physical inventory counts Excellent communication and leadership skills Preferred Traits
Detail-oriented and organized Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and cross-functionally Comfortable in a hybrid or on-site setting (5x/week preferred) Seniorities
