Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Anaesthesia. The closing date is 08 November 2025. This is an exciting time to join the Trust as we develop our dedicated elective site at Ashford Hospital to create a state-of-the-art centre of excellence for planned surgical procedures, with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment. We are looking for a Consultant in Anaesthesia to join our team of over 40 consultants and 12 specialty doctors, working in a friendly and flexible department. The opportunities have been created by replacement posts and service expansion. There is an on-call commitment included in this post; the supplement is 3%. Each session equates to 1.25 PAs. The job plan will be across St Peter\'s Hospital and Ashford Hospital cross sites. This role forms part of the Department of Anaesthesia and we are supported by a multidisciplinary team including Staff grade, Associate Specialists, Middle Grade Fellows and Trainee Anaesthetists. The main duties for this role will be to: Deliver Clinical, Educational and Managerial Services of the highest professional standard at Consultant Level. Work with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality well-led service for patients of Ashford & St Peter\'s, including the diagnosis, investigations, treatment and management of patients, in accordance with Trust policies and practices. Deliver Direct Clinical Care to patients, assisting clinical decision-making and sharing equally in the workload. About us

In addition to the main duties highlighted above, the postholder will be required to develop the clinical leadership team and provide comprehensive senior clinical cover to the Department, including: Pre-operative assessment of patients Consultant-delivered peri-operative care Engagement with local and national audit projects including NELA Supporting the Resuscitation Department and the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab Work flexibly where required Any changes will be by negotiation and reflected in the job plans Have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, ensuring safe handover as appropriate. Engage fully with the care of patients outside the department and provide a prompt opinion on request from consultant colleagues in other specialties. Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of departmental objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience; ensure the highest quality clinical care. Actively participate in and support other staff with education, research, audit and clinical governance activities involving a multi-disciplinary workforce across the departments and divisions. Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non-medical, and contribute to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of junior medical staff. Teaching and training will require verification of teaching certification. Support recruitment, appraisal, development and mentoring activities to a multi-disciplinary, multi-professional team. Qualifications

GMC Registration with a License to Practice CC(T) (or equivalent) in Anaesthesia within 6 months of interview Experience

Can provide high quality elective and emergency anaesthesia care for adults and children. Ability to provide direct anaesthetic clinical care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
