Overview

Position: Counselor (multiple levels) at Pinnacle Treatment Centers. Pinnacle is a provider of addiction treatment services focused on compassionate, evidence-based care and holistic well-being for patients and a supportive environment for teammates. Position Overview: As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in the recovery journey of our patients. Pinnacle’s approach combines compassionate care with innovative treatment methods to address the diverse needs of individuals seeking help for substance use disorders. Key Responsibilities

Provides orientation to new patients to the programs’ rules, policies, procedures, and patients\' rights. Conducts Intakes, Discharge Planning, Initial Assessments, and Initial Treatment Plans professionally and within time guidelines as required by applicable federal and state regulation, CARF guidelines and Pinnacle Policies. Involves patients in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention aspects of treatment to foster patient engagement in recovery. Administers the biopsychosocial assessment at intake and on an ongoing basis, evaluating all areas of patients\' lives. Develops individualized Treatment Plans using SNAP (Strengths, Needs, Ability, and Preferences) to help patients meet short- and long-term goals. Determines the clinical necessity of counseling services based on assessments. Monitors and documents changes in patients\' circumstances, identifies relapse indicators, and promotes relapse prevention interventions. Complies with Medical QA and Clinical Risk Management Policies, including: evaluating high-risk conditions, administering screening tools (BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, PHQ-9), reviewing other practitioners\' involvement, and facilitating referrals as needed, with appropriate waivers and communications. Flags high-risk patients to Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership; coordinates referrals per policy and treatment team discussions. Documenting and communicating high-risk factors to the team and maintaining treatment conference minutes. Provides professional counseling and referrals, addressing clinical and special needs, and coordinating with second-tier services and community resources. Delivers individual and group counseling using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Schedules regular counseling sessions, manages appointment records in the EHR, and ensures documentation compliance. Engages in Community Relations and Outreach; attends required trainings and case conferences with program physicians and PAs. Collects research data when requested and participates in urine drug testing as required. Attends team meetings and completes training courses timely. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Counselor I: $20/hour to $22/hour Possess an associate degree in a relevant field or most of the approved counselor certification courses, license, or certification necessary to provide counseling services. In Kern County, a bachelor\'s degree or 75% of required counselor certification courses may be required. Possess counselor registration/certification by a recognized certifying organization (DHCS reference). 0-2 years of experience. Counselor II: $22/hour to $25/hour Possess an associate degree or majority of required certifications; Kern County requirement as above. 2-5 years of experience OR Master level. Counselor III: $25/hour to $28/hour (Certified) & $28/hour - $31/hour (Licensed) Licensed or license-eligible with required certification (CA). Must maintain supervision if license-eligible. Certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor with CA-approved agency or current credentials (Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology). Proof of licensure/certification required immediately upon employment. Experience & Education

Experience: Preferred Prior SUD counseling experience preferred. Education: Required: Technical/other training or better in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related field Associates or better in Psychology or related field Preferred: Masters or better in Psychology or related field Bachelors or better in Psychology or related field Licenses & Certifications
