Overview

Main Purpose of Job: This part-time contractual position will provide functional individual and group programming to CCF/Chronic residents/patients under the supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Three years of experience assisting in the implementation of prescribed activity therapy programs under the supervision of a healthcare professional to include assisting in patient/client assessments for patients/clients that are aged, physically ill, have physical disabilities, behavioral health diagnoses, or developmental disabilities. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, with at least 15 credit hours in health services, human services, education or the behavioral sciences for the required experience. Candidates may substitute possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy or therapeutic recreation for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Therapeutic Recreation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Licenses, Registrations and Certifications

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. A motor vehicle operator's license valid in Maryland is required. Some positions may require operation of vehicles with a Class "C" license valid in Maryland. Maintenance of current CPR certification may be required. Facilities with a swimming pool may require Red Cross Life Saving and Water Safety certification prior to permanent appointment. Special Requirements

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for at least one year; the list may be used for similar positions in this or other state agencies. Benefits

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, and who work 30 or more hours per week or an average of 130 hours per month, may be eligible for subsidized health benefits. The employee will be responsible for 25% of premiums; the state will subsidize 75%. Dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance options are available with the employee paying full premiums for those benefits. Leave is granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year. Further Instructions
