Shutts & Bowen, a full-service law firm serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally, is seeking a Paralegal for its Real Estate Practice in the Miami office. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working as a Real Estate Paralegal in a law firm. Our paralegals operate within a complex commercial real estate practice that emphasizes a team-based approach. Strong title and survey skills are crucial, along with excellent technical abilities and strong oral and written communication skills. This position demands keen attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines. Responsibilities
Assist with preparing and reviewing closing documents for commercial and residential real estate purchase and sale transactions. Aid in preparing and reviewing loan documents, including UCC Financing Statements. Coordinate closings for commercial and residential real estate transactions by maintaining a closing checklist, preparing and distributing signature page packages, reviewing settlement statements, and coordinating with various transaction parties as necessary. Order and review title and survey documents (including title exceptions), prepare title and survey objection letters, and create title/survey memoranda and escrow closing letters. Order and collect typical legal due diligence items for sale and loan transactions, including zoning/governmental compliance letters, UCC/judgment searches, entity authority documents, good standing certificates, and estoppel letters from lienholders, tenants, and other parties involved in declarations, easements, and similar agreements. Order, review, and abstract UCC/judgment/lien search results. Obtain and review zoning reports and conduct relevant zoning analyses. Conduct lease reviews and prepare lease abstracts. Manage the filing and recording of documents. Prepare closing binders and address post-closing matters. Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Strong title and survey skills, advanced technical skills, and excellent oral and written communication abilities are necessary. Must demonstrate keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Capability to handle various tasks without error, set priorities, and accommodate rush requests. Knowledge of legal terms and matters to ensure that submitted forms include all necessary related parties. Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail. Superior communication and customer service skills, demonstrating courtesy and diplomacy. Ability to think creatively about new solutions and implement best practices. Generally, core working hours are from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with the flexibility to work overtime as needed. Physical attendance and punctuality at the workplace are required. Physical Demands
