Job Description: Paraprofessional II - Speech Facilitator
The Gateway Unified School District is seeking a Paraprofessional II - Speech Facilitator to work at Shasta Lake School. The selected candidate will work 8 hours a day under the direction of the Classroom Teacher, Principal, or Designee. Key Responsibilities: Assist instructional personnel in assigned instructional areas. Tutor individual students and small groups with special learning needs. Assist in shaping appropriate social behaviors and manage acting out student behavior. Operate and assist students in the operation of instructional aids and computer-assisted instruction equipment. Monitor and assist in the remediation of specific learning problems and conditions. Requirements: Must meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act. Previous experience working with children in an organized setting, preferably as a Paraprofessional (Instructional Aide). Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably with training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, or a closely related field. Working Conditions: The physical requirements of this position include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. The employee frequently is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $17.90 - $24.08 per hour. The district offers a competitive benefits package.
