Base pay range:
$18.59/hr - $25.01/hr Shift schedule: 7:45 am - 1:30 pm. 182 workdays (14 district paid holidays). Responsibilities
Assist instructional personnel in assigned instructional areas. Tutor individual students and small groups with special learning needs; reinforce learning activities. Assist in shaping appropriate social behaviors and in managing student behavior with positive reinforcement. Operate and assist with instructional aids, computer-assisted instruction equipment, and software programs. Monitor and assist remediation of specific learning problems and conditions. May administer medication per medical instruction and perform routine first aid; request assistance for non-routine injuries or illness. Observe and monitor students with handicapping conditions and request appropriate assistance as needed. Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment; assist with classroom materials, record keeping, and use of media equipment. Participate in parent conferences and student progress reporting activities as assigned. Support students with language and hearing disorders and interact with students to encourage progress and meet instructional and behavioral needs; share observations with the teacher; maintain confidentiality. Assist with general campus supervision and discipline as assigned. Contribute to preparation of materials and use of educational and office equipment; perform screen-testing when requested. Attend in-services, conferences, and staff meetings as assigned; perform other related duties as assigned. Required qualifications
Must meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind. Knowledge: correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; understanding special needs and behavior of assigned students; basic concepts of child growth and development. Ability: work well with adults and children; follow written and oral instructions; work with minimal supervision; perform routine clerical tasks; establish cooperative relationships. Education and experience
Any combination of experience and training likely to provide required knowledge and skill; previous experience with children in an organized setting preferred. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, instructional technology, or related field preferred. Physical demands
Stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk or hear; frequently sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities; moderate noise level. Procedure and pre-hire requirements
