Associate Director Academic Advising Services (College of Law) Florida International University seeks an Associate Director for Academic Advising Services to support the College of Law's academic mission by delivering high-quality advising services to J.D. students under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Academic Advising. The role guides students through course planning, academic progress, and ABA requirements, collaborating with faculty and academic leadership to support student success and ensure alignment with institutional policies.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized and group academic advising to J.D. students on course selection, degree planning, registration, and academic standing.

Interpret and communicate academic policies and graduation requirements, ensuring students have accurate and timely information.

Monitor student academic performance, identify students in academic distress, and support interventions in collaboration with the Assistant Dean.

Create and maintain advising resources such as academic calendars, course sequencing charts, degree audit tools, and planning templates.

Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Academic Advising on course scheduling, curriculum development support, and long-term academic planning.

Assist in coordinating academic advising activities during orientation, registration periods, and academic information sessions throughout the year.

Serve as a liaison between the advising office and faculty to ensure consistent academic messaging and coordinated support for students.

Support the development and assessment of advising-related policies and procedures.

Maintain knowledge of ABA accreditation standards and legal education best practices relevant to academic advising.

Perform other related duties as required or directed by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and four (4) years of managerial experience in academic advising and/or project management; OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of managerial experience in academic advising and/or project management.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Excellent communication (oral & written) skills.
