The Team Black & Veatch\'s Fuels and Natural Resources (F&NR) Team provides services from consulting, design, full engineering, procurement & construction (EPC), and commissioning & start-up for LNG facilities, Floating LNG facilities, gas processing & NGL fractionation, gasification & gas to liquids, hydrogen, and ammonia & fertilizers. Our knowledge includes our proprietary PRICO® technologies to assess and tailor solutions with quality and efficiency. The value chain spans natural gas, natural gas liquids, midstream, wholesale markets, power generation, and utility segments.

The Opportunity As an

Electrical Engineer , you will have the opportunity to:

Work as a

Technical Expert or Project Lead

performing all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis.

Support projects spanning Hyrdocarbon Processing (HPI), hydrogen, ammonia & fertilizer, FLNG, LNG and new energy.

Explore technologies within the process space to expand your skillset and knowledge.

Develop electrical drawing deliverables including :

One line and three line diagrams

Electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics and wiring diagrams

Power cable sizing and cable schedules

Complex calculations such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM), arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM), protective relay settings

Develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction

Create man hour budgets and schedules for projects and proposals

Attend on-site meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with clients, and provide support during construction

Extensively use Microsoft Office, ETAP, and AutoCAD to view and manipulate engineering drawing files

May be preferred, but we are open to candidates with any Power Generation Facility design experience (e.g., Power Plants, Nuclear Plants, Hydrogen Facilities).

The selected candidate must be located or willing to relocate to our World Headquarters in

Overland Park, KS (Kansas City) , or one of our Flagship Offices in

Houston, TX

or

Raleigh, NC .

Key Responsibilities

Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and B&V policies. Provide technical guidance to others on projects and disciplines.

Apply knowledge and comply with B&V quality program; may ensure compliance and mentor others. Support continuous improvement and change management.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects; conduct research and recommendations for equipment/materials; manage data and budgets; apply advanced engineering techniques; delegate tasks to develop staff; review work; lead production teams or coordinate multiple disciplines; serve as responsible charge for a project.

Coordinate with internal/external teams on moderately complex projects.

Identify client interests and drivers; communicate to project team and support business development or pursuit activities.

Provide consulting and guidance as a technical specialist; mentor; develop and apply advanced engineering concepts.

May assist with resource management and have responsibilities for engineering resources and some administrative duties (policies, adherence, timesheets, expenses).

Preferred Qualifications

Oil & Gas project experience as a design engineer; project lead experience and SME in LNG, FLNG, hydrogen, ammonia & fertilizers

Ability to deal with ambiguity and build effective teams

Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and standards

Petrochemical or Process Industry experience

Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70)

Experience with Hazardous Area Classifications per NEC/API

Experience with ETAP or SKM electrical system analysis

Experience with industrial power distribution systems including MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, batteries, UPS

Experience with protective relay settings and sizing calculations

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program

Minimum of 5 years related work experience

U.S. Professional Engineer License or equivalent to support EOR requirements for BV projects

Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR, etc.)

Certifications

Active engineering registration or licensure to support EOR requirements (e.g., U.S. Professional Engineer License)

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments.
