Overview
Carpenter/Maintenance Mechanic – Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. Competitive wages and employer paid health insurance. EMI Services is seeking a Carpenter/Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and to carry out carpenter duties with a focus on safety and quality.
Salary $50.32/hr. plus employer paid health benefits and pension.
Key Responsibilities
Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose sources of trouble
Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs
Replace broken or defective parts
Prepare written specifications for major repairs
Reassemble machines and make necessary adjustments for operation
Perform carpenter duties, including framing, finish work, painting, staining, etc.
Design, construct, install, and repair wooden fixtures such as cabinets, furniture, shelving, doors, plaques, and other wood products
Perform related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
Thorough knowledge of theory, methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the trade
Knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the trade
Knowledge of building architectural/structural elements including alterations and repairs
Ability to read and understand blueprints pertinent to the trade
Adaptable and flexible in work situations; able to prioritize tasks
Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years’ experience as a carpenter/maintenance mechanic in an industrial or commercial facilities maintenance environment
Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility
Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or ability to obtain one
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Regular, dependable attendance
U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
Preferred Qualifications
TS/SCI clearance
Certifications
Formal apprenticeship
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
Use of hands, reaching, talking, walking
Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
May spend long hours in awkward positions; may stand for long periods and work on ladders/scaffolds
Work indoors and outdoors in various temperatures and weather conditions
