ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned. Read, create, and modify electrical schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards. Read, create, and modify fluid power (hydraulics and pneumatics) schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards. Read, create, and modify P&ID schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards. Read, create, and modify programming code in Siemens SCL, Siemens Statement List, Siemens Graph 7, Siemens Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Logic (Siemens, Allen Bradley and others), Allen Bradley Structured Text, Microsoft Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, Python, Microsoft SQL, and others. Read, create, and modify database tables in MSSQL server. Read, create, and modify HMI programs for Siemens, Allen Bradley, and other HMIs (WinCC Flex, Panel Builder 32). Read, create, and modify SCADA programs for Siemens WinCC and Inductive Automation. Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot any brand of PLC, HMI or VFD. Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot industrial communications media and protocols. Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot a wide range of industrial machinery. Upgrade and retrofit controls that are obsolete with no direct replacements available, including making necessary modifications to existing equipment. Possess exemplary troubleshooting skills and be able to repair machinery from multiple manufacturers. Use oscilloscopes, test meters, megohmmeters, process calibrators, thermal imagers, vibration analyzers, data loggers and other test equipment. Source materials for projects and repairs and coordinate with maintenance inventory to acquire needed materials in a timely manner. Train technicians and apprentices on process instrumentation calibration, programming code interpretation, troubleshooting practices for electrical controls systems, and fluid power systems. Perform duties with minimal outside support and ensure work is performed safely with appropriate PPE. Must be able to work remotely and travel with tools to multiple locations. Serve as a resource to production staff in multiple facilities and support positive Employee Relations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for training and supervising the mechatronics/controls technician apprentice(s). May occasionally train and supervise seasonal interns. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematics, and machine drawings. Read, analyze, and interpret programming code documented in languages other than English. Read, analyze, and interpret regulatory documentation and technical journals. Provide clear written instructions and create easy-to-understand operating procedures. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Apply advanced mathematical concepts and coding of mathematical concepts as needed for analysis and programming. REASONING ABILITY: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive technical instructions and programming logic. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Organized with ability to archive documents and drawings. Cleaning molds and cover plates; maintaining housekeeping in presses, press area, and vacuum system. Removing out-of-spec material and placing it in designated area. Safe operation of equipment; minimize press change times. Remain in work area except breaks; clean press pits per Production Supervisor schedule. Report problems with equipment or product quality to leadman or Production Supervisor promptly. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Production) High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. LANGUAGE SKILLS (Production): Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence; write simple correspondence; present information to groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS (Production): Ability to perform basic arithmetic, measurement, and conversions. REASONING ABILITY (Production): Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and handle problems with several variables.
